Background

A leading retail brokerage firm wanted to upgrade all of their field offices with new technology. This included 22,000 desktop systems, new LAN upgrades and a new brokerage application across 500 retail offices nationwide.  In order to minimize disruption all work had to be performed on weekends and the entire project had to be completed within six months.  ISS was assigned the responsibility to upgrade 250 offices.
 
Client Requirements
  • Rapid mobilization and deployment of reliable, competent teams for short-duration, intense project
  • High – quality controlled installations with no office downtime. All work performed over a weekend
  • Complete project coordination with all vendors, suppliers, and local building management and labor
  • Senior-level project managers housed at the PMO to provide oversight and control
ISS Solution
 
Seven senior project managers based in New York City as part of client PMO.  Each project manager was responsible for multiple geographies and functions.
  • Ten technical team leaders to function as “flying squads” for site surveys and to oversee on-site installations and manage local resources
  • Lead technicians on the road over 90% during a six-month period
  • Completion bonus established for ISS personnel to ensure continuity and commitment
Result
 
All assigned sites in six months completed On time….On budget….On spec.
 
No customer complaints, no early terminations due to client request, all but one ISS employee was awarded completion bonus.
